But, a recent study found a surprising thing, that not doing regular exercise may be more harmful to the body than smoking. It states that rarely exercising has a 30 percent higher risk of death. The study, published in the journal JAMA Network Open, was conducted by researchers from the Cleveland Clinic. They studied 122,007 patients from 1991 to 2014.
The patients were asked to do a treadmill test and then the researchers recorded the mortality rate. As a result, a longer and healthier life is correlated with a high level of exercise. The study said, "Cardiorespiratory fitness is inversely proportional to long-term mortality with no observed benefit limits," Time, Saturday (10/20/2018).
But they stressed that, "Very high aerobic fitness is associated with longer survival and has benefits in older patients and people with hypertension," This is widely understood as an active lifestyle can lead to a healthy life. The study also concluded that a sedentary lifestyle is associated with a higher risk of disease.

Dr. Wael Jaber, one of the authors of this study, said that the results were quite surprising. "Not doing sports on a treadmill or stress training has a worse prognosis in terms of death than having hypertension, diabetes, or smoking habits," Jaber told CNN. "We have never seen anything as clear and as objective as this,"
Of course, this study does not mean that smoking is better than not exercising. Both smoking and not exercising are as bad but on different levels. So, don't do both!
