How to treatment and overcome asthma attack

1 comment:
When asthma attack, the airways in the lungs become inflamed and obstructed by mucus. This makes difficult for the patient to breathe. When the chest starts to feel tight, the lungs make a wheezing sound. There are many things that can trigger asthma attacks such as air pollution, emotions, or other asthma triggers such as dust, cigarette smoke, and others.

Asthma attacks can be life-threatening (Image: Getty Images)

Asthma can be treated in many ways

1. Using conventional medicines and therapies

2. Using alternative medicines such as herbs or other traditional medicines

3. By using alternative therapies such as Yoga, Acupuncture, etc…

Every type of therapy has its own scope and time span. The first and the most widely accepted therapy is the conventional medicines and procedures. In this procedure of asthma treatment, the patient is treated in two ways

1. Short term treatment

2. Long term treatment

Short term asthma treatment involves the instant relief of the patient from asthma attacks. Short term treatment involves the administration of inhalers and orally administered drugs. Asthma cannot be cured, but the scope of asthma can be controlled with the help of a proper asthma management program.

Short term treatment is done mainly by using Metered Dose Inhalers or MDIs. Dry powder inhalers are also gaining favor in the treatment of asthma.

For those patients who cannot use the MDI’s, nebulizer therapy is used.

Long term asthma treatment involves more of Parallel treatment and lesser use of drugs.

In parallel asthma treatment, environmental components and surrounding analysis is done to minimize the factors that lead to Asthma attacks. In this type of treatment environment components such as pollen grains, allergens etc are minimized from the patient’s surroundings to minimize the chances of an asthma attack.

For this it is necessary that the patient’s place of residence be cleaned every week, the patient must be kept away from pets with fur or feather, weekly washing of the bedding of the patient in hot water.

Avoid using synthetic material in the patient’s bedding, replace upholstery based furniture to vinyl or leather ones.

Remove carpeted floors. They may contain dust particles that could cause problems to the asthma patient.

Use the Air conditioner to protect the patient from subtle temperature changes.

Keep the house dry. Humidity effects the asthma patient.

After the parallel asthma treatment is completed, lung functioning is monitored to look for effective changes. After this, medicines like corticosteroids and bronchodilators are administered. Periodic check up is necessary to know about any changes in the condition of the patient.

Here are some ways you can do to overcome an asthma attack when you can't use an inhaler

1. Sit up straight
When the chest starts to feel tight, stop doing whatever you are doing and sit up straight. If the body curves down or lies down, breathing will be increasingly blocked and asthma will get worse.

2. Breathe long
Taking a deep breath slowly will make the breathing process slow and prevent asthma attacks from getting worse. Inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth.

3. Do not panic.
The most important thing when a patient feels an asthma attack is not to panic and stay calm. Panicking will only make the chest muscles become tighter and make the patient more difficult to breathe.

4. Avoid asthma triggers
Every asthma patient should already know what can trigger an asthma attack on them. There are asthma when exposed to dust and others. Whatever it is, immediately move away from things that can cause asthma. especially if breathing starts to feel uncomfortable

5. Seek help.
If asthma attack, coughing and wheezing still occur when you are resting, just try not to panic, get help immediately or call an ambulance.

6. Get warm drinks.
Some warm drinks like tea can make the airways open slightly, so they can provide comfort and help the patient breathe for at least an hour or more.

Asthma is not a disease that heals immediately after treatment. Patients must continue to take medication even though they have never had an asthma attack. If asthma attacks occur frequently, it means that the patient is not really maintaining good health. You may need a more suitable medicine or start paying attention to your lifestyle.

Preventing Bone Disease in Healthy Aging

2 comments:
Each day we live, we grow older failing to see that our bones and muscles demand activities to continue strength, endurance and resistance to life’s nasty living demands. Our bones need continued activities through out our lives starting as a child. Until we turn 30, the bones continue to build. After this age, the bones begin to disintegrate. You can cutback this degeneration process by taking care of your bones in youthful days.

Photo by Cristina Gottardi on Unsplash

How it is achieved:

Bone health is achieved through activities, such as exercise. In addition, you maintain healthy bones by increasing calcium. Supplements are available, which include the FDA marked remedies to help reduce bone loss from natural aging.

Taking calcium is very important during our entire life.  Children should drink 2 cups of milk each day and adults 3 cups. Calcium in food is better to take than pills because you get more of it; food sometimes doesn’t have the right amounts in it due to the way it has been processed. Get that calcium in your body at an early age and keep it there. Besides calcium however, your bones demand a mixture of magnesium. You will also need a healthy dose of phosphorous. Vitamin D facilitates calcium to flow through the bloodstream. Free flowing bloods make a healthier you.

To improve bones, we also need to start at an early age getting plenty of vitamin D. As we get older, we have a tendency to stay out of the sun more. Don’t sit in the house all day. Rather try to get outside around noon and get some sun with all those vitamin D rays. Supplements can be used but again the sun is better. Maybe take a walk for 15-20 minutes each day to get the sun.

As we aging into the later years of our life, we have to keep those bones strong. You can benefit from weight bearing works, such as walking. Keeping those bones strong will help you survive falls. Falls is one of the leading reasons of bone breakage or fractures, especially as we grow older.

Unfortunately, adolescents don’t realize the importance of taking care of our bones. As these adolescents pass puberty however, their bones start to decline. Once a person reaches 50, the bones start to deteriorate, which puts you at high risk of fractures, disease and breakage. As the bones weaken, the muscles and joints will also degenerate. Injures then can lead to gouty arthritis, arthritis, osteoporosis and so on.

The high-risks of bone fractures are charted, which include hip fractures being the most common injure amongst the elderly. Hip fractures may sound like a minor ordeal, yet the truth is hip fractures are responsible for some deaths.

Weak bones are avertable even once you are middle age. It’s never to late to repair or mend our bodies.
Staying fit is the key to preventing risks of disease, hip fractures etc since the bones will stay healthy. In view of the fact, you want to consider a daily schedule, which includes activities and exercise. You want to keep those muscles free to move, since the muscles protect the bones. Stretch workouts and exercise will prevent your joints from feeling stiff as well, which joints support the muscles and bones.

When you exercise you, maintain weight. As you start to age, the body fat increases to more than 30%. This is too much added weight for the muscles, joints and bones. Carrying around this kind of weight on the feet, legs, etc will cause problems later. Maintaining your weight will help prevent and lower your risks of heart disease, bone disease, high-blood, high-cholesterol, diabetes and so on.

Optimism can reduce the risk of heart problems

3 comments:
Sudden death at a young age often occurs because of heart problems. Studies prove, certain personality can reduce the risk of heart problems and premature deaths caused by it. "A person with the highest levels of optimism had a double opportunity to have ideal cardiovascular health than those who are pessimistic," said Rosalba Hernandez, a professor at the University of Illinois, quoted from ScienceDaily, Saturday (10/2015). Rosalba had a conclusion after examining 5,100 adults aged 45-84 years.

The participants were asked to follow a mental health-related survey, the level of optimism, and physical health are also associated with a history of chronic diseases including arthritis. The analysis shows, the total score for the general health tend to be proportional to the level of optimism.

Participants with the highest level of optimism has a chance at 50-70 percent higher to have a healthy heart. In addition to having a healthy heart, participants with the highest level of optimism also have cholesterol and blood sugar levels better than those who are pessimistic.

As published in the journal Health Behavior and Policy Review, optimistic person is also less chance to smoke. Rosalba assess this finding is important because at the community level, there is little difference in heart health can bring a significant reduction in mortality. Modification of psychological things, he thought could help the American Heart Association (AHA) achieve the goal of improving cardiovascular health by 20 percent before 2020.

The researchers found that compared with the ratio of the average diet early, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or often referred to as bad cholesterol is 13.5 mg / dL lower after eating avocado respondents regularly.

In patients with high LDL, this result would be the equivalent of a 10 percent reduction in levels. Some other blood tests also showed other benefits of avocado consumption, ie primarily on total cholesterol and triglycerides, as quoted by the Journal of the American Heart Association, Friday (09/01/2015). Avocados are known to contain fiber and phytosterols that are beneficial to health. Quoted from the Journal of the American Heart Association, Saturday (10/01/2015), the researchers concluded this after observing the levels of abdominal fat, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or "bad" cholesterol and total cholesterol levels of the respondents.

The researchers conducted a study involving 52 respondents who have excess weight. Moreover, these respondents also had higher levels of total cholesterol and high LDL prior to the study. They were then divided into two groups: one group was given almonds as a snack, while the other group was given a muffin banana as a snack for 12 weeks.

The results showed that the group was given a snack of almonds decreased abdominal fat, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and other blood fats, when compared with the other groups. "Our study found that eating almonds as a snack can be heart healthy and reduce belly fat. In addition, snacking almonds can also be a simple way to help fight heart disease," said one researcher, Claire Berryman. According to nutritionists Leona Victoria Djajadi, MND, how to eat nuts as a snack is best to raw (raw).

Nuts including almonds and walnuts contain good fats (polyunsaturated and monounsaturated) so that it can fight and reduce the content of LDL in the blood. "Nuts also contain fiber so that when combined with protein and fat can be one snack potent against hunger," said Victoria.

Why we Cry : The Biology behind tearfest

No comments:
Crying is healthy. When we are severely overhelmed, we can't help but weep, says Jodi De Luca, Ph.D., a neuropsycologist at Tampa General Hospital. Our bodies can use crying to defuse bottled-up stress that can wreak havoc on our immune system.

Tears attrack kindness. It's likely that human tears envolved so we coul send out a clear nonverbal message : I need attention ! thus De Luca says, " They elicit as a sympathetic response in others"

It's a girl thing. Young males and females cry roughly the same amount, but one biological reason grown women cry more than men: After puberty, women's bodies contain much more of a hormone called prolactin, which is a main ingredient of emotional tears, women are able to form and shed tears at a much faster and more frequent rate.

Low Protein Diet, Reduce Alzheimer's Symptoms

1 comment:
A study applying strict protein diet in rats suffering from advanced Alzheimer's disease. The result, when the rats test of the memory using the labyrinth, an increase in cognitive ability than other rats who did not tested a diet.

In addition, only a few of them are abnormal nerve damage due to protein. Abnormal conditions are often known as "tau" is usually accumulates in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease..

Protein Diet is the primary way to manage the growth of a hormone known as IGF-1. This hormone is often associated with the aging process and various diseases in mice, as well as several other diseases in elderly humans.

These findings are based on research conducted by Professor Valter Longo of the University of Southern California. "We have found that a deficiency of growth hormone receptor and IGF-1 showed a reduced incidence of cancer and diabetes," says Longo.
Protein Diet reduces the amount of IGF-1 circulation throughout the body by as much as 30 to 70 percent, and cause increased eight fold proteins that can block the effects of IGF-1.

More research needs to be done to determine whether the same response occurs also in humans, as well as to test the effects of dietary protein restriction on cancer, diabetes and heart disease, as well as, of course, to test its security.  "However, doctors need to read the results of this research. So, his patients had no other choice, he can consider to introduce restrictions on the protein in her treatment, "Longo hope. (ScienceDaily)

Why Green Tea Healthy

No comments:
Almost everyone had drank tea. Some people even used to drink it every day after eating or while reading a newspaper at the time. Even though it feels a bit bitter, tea can refresh. Many people add sugar to kill bitter.

Many people already know where tea came from . Well, tea comes from the Camellia sinensis leaves and shoots. These shrubs growing in tropical and Subtropical climates with rainfall of 1,500 mm. to grow tea plants require high humidity with temperatures between 13-29, 5o C. This is the reason why the tea we often foundin the Highlands and mountains of the mild winters.

Good quality of tea comes from the leaves or shoots of young tea leaves that have yet to bloom. So to make the 0.45 kg good quality of tea it takes roughly 80,000 leaves! In addition to make a cup of tea need a long process. Once picked, it collected for further undergo various processes. One such concoction. From this appears a variety of tea: white tea, oolong tea, black tea and green tea.

To make white tea takes the youngest tea leaves, which is still filled with white feathers, short or fine hair.the process through two stages of the evaporation and drying. There is no process of withering, milling and fermentation (sometimes also with mild levels of fermented). the look of white tea barely changed, the silvery white. When brewed is pale yellow with a delicate aroma and fresh.

Whereas the green tea material is derived from green tea shoots of leaves through heating with water vapor to deactivate the enzymes contained in the tea leaves. Then rolled and dried. Green tea is produced by evaporation (steaming) tea leaves at high temperatures so that the content of polyphenols can be maintained.

Why the content of polyphenols retained? Polyphenols are chemical compounds as antioxidants. In the tea leaves contained four primary polyphenols, epicatechin (EC), epicatechingallate (ECG), epigallocatechin (EGC), and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). Well, EGCG in green tea are antioxidants that strength 100 times more effective than vitamin C and 25 times higher than that of vitamin E.

Content of EGCG in 1 gram of green tea  is between 30-50 mg. Actualy black tea also contains polyphenols, but not as much as green tea.Polyphenols in  Black tea is about 10%  ang in green tea  30-40%. It was due to the fermentation process. This process destroys the content of polyphenols (including EGCG).

Aside from EGCG, green tea also contains tannins. These compounds are polyphenols that may inhibit absorption of iron minerals or damage inside the body. For pregnant women and people with iron deficiency is recommended not to drink green tea too much to avoid the risk of anemia (lack of blood). However, the content of tannins makes green tea more bitter

As a powerful antioxidant, EGCG  is able to  reduce free radicals and cell damage. So it can delay the process of premature aging. Other functions of EGCG is antiatherogenic (minimize the risks of blockage of blood vessels), antithrombotic (anti blood clotting), and antimicrobial. Well, the more revealed the greatness of green tea. At least coronary heart disease, stroke, and caries (Coral) on the teeth can be prevented

Green Tea Prevent Tooth Decay

No comments:
Green tea that we often hear can dissolve fat levels, it also can prevent tooth decay. Likely, this is because of the ability of polyphenol compounds, particularly catechins and fluoride.  In Japan have conducted research on a number of volunteers who were asked to wash their mouth after they eat with tea containing polyphenols.

As a result, green tea can significantly reduce the occurrence of plaque, including against those who don't brush your teeth or clean the tooth with dental floss. Other studies also show, for those who drink tea regularly have proven cases of dental caries is decreasing and the level of damage is not too severe.

In fact the toothpaste containing green tea from the results of research could also reduce dental plaque.  Seeing the benefits of green tea is so great against the teeth,  it's good drinking green tea in order to have a strong and healthy teeth.
