In primary amenorrhea, menstruation does not occur at all. Though normally first menstruation (menarche) of a teen at the age of 9-18 years. A young woman will claimed got amenonhea primary if on more than 16 years of age still has not menstruate.
The secondary amenorrhea occur to women who previously had experienced a period, but then the cycle stops for no reason she knew.

Causes
- Losing weight dramatically (due to poverty, the wrong diet, anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, a very heavy physical activity and other causes).
- Extreme obesity.
- Chronic disease suffered in the long term.
- Female genital organ abnormalities (absence of uterus, vagina, vaginal septum, cervical stenosis, and the hymen is too thick).

Prevention
- If amenorrhea occurs due to congenital diseases such as Turner Syndrome and Syndrome Sawyer or because of abnormalities in genital organs , the disease is not preventable.
- Maintaining a weight balance in order not too fat ( obesity ) or too thin.
- Doing a good healthy lifestyle by eating healthy foods , exercise regularly , and live happily .
- Stay away from the stress .
